Droplet

A mirror-polished stainless-steel “splash” rises from a piano-black base, caught at the instant a bead of liquid stretches upward. The surface folds the room into rippling cells of light; the central orb reads as a perfect drop about to fall back.

Artist Statement

Droplet freezes a millisecond of hydrodynamics. The raised stem and bulb are sculpted as if pulled by surface tension, while the pooled plate maps turbulence into reflective topology. I treat steel like liquid skin—hyper-responsive, never still—so that the work animates itself with whatever it reflects.

1/1 Modern Exhibition

Display on a plinth (waist height) with at least 60–80 cm of clearance. Use high-CRI, 3000–4000 K lighting from two opposing angles to model the splash without harsh hotspots; a soft overhead fill restores the orb’s specular highlight. Keep surroundings neutral and matte so reflections remain legible. Clean with microfiber and a pH-neutral solution only.
