Emergence

Emergence is a sculpture created with a variety of Mercury cubes. This sculpture can be custom made with the cubes ranging in size up to 2.4m x 2.4m x 2.4m and a range of other possibilities depending on the requirements of the design. The Sculpture can be as wide as 3m and as tall as an entire building running along an external or internal wall. Emergence can also be installed as a ground sculpture.

Artist Statement

Emergence is a single, prismatic column rises with quiet certainty, its mirror-polished 316L stainless steel turning light into substance. The surface behaves like liquid mercury: sky, architecture and passers-by are stretched and folded into a continuously moving image. From afar the work reads as a clear architectural silhouette; up close, micro-ripples break highlights into a fine, shimmering grain. The sculpture doesn’t just occupy space—it edits it, making distance feel near and the solid appear weightless.

1/1 Modern Exhibition

The piece performs best with soft, directional lighting that lets long gradients travel along the face of the column. Give it breathing room so visitors can circle and watch the reflections recombine; a calm, low-saturation environment keeps the palette pure. When placed slightly off the main approach, the first encounter happens at a glancing angle that ignites the signature specular line and emphasizes height. Maintenance is minimal: the marine-grade alloy resists corrosion; occasional non-abrasive cleaning preserves optical clarity.

1/2 Renaissance Works

Where painting once modeled volume with chiaroscuro, this sculpture paints with the world itself. Proportion and balance borrow from classical order, yet the “image” remains living—clouds, people and time of day become its moving pigments. The viewer’s reflection enters the composition, completing the work through presence and motion.
