Freefall II

Part of Rado Kirov’s Freefall series, Freefall II composes mirror-polished 316L stainless-steel cubes into a dynamic cascade. Individual cubes in the series range from 10×10×10 cm up to 2.3×2.3×2.3 m, allowing bespoke arrangements for any space. This piece measures 47×50×78 cm.

Artist Statement

Freefall II treats the cube—geometry’s calmest form—as a moving body. Each face mirrors its surroundings, but the polished surfaces are gently deformed so reflections bend, collide and shear like liquid. The cluster feels paused mid-motion, as if gravity were still negotiating the final landing. Order and accident are balanced: precise edges meet soft, mercurial skin.

1/1 Modern Exhibition

Show on a quiet plinth at eye/chest height with soft, grazing light (3000–3500 K, high CRI). Keep strong reflections—windows, busy textures, mirrors—out of the primary sightline so the highlights read as continuous flows across the facets. Clean with microfiber and a pH-neutral solution; avoid abrasives.
