Liquid Rod (2017)

Liquid Rod is a vertical, mirror-polished 316L stainless-steel column whose wavelike profile turns a simple upright into a living stream of reflections. Made in various heights (up to 2.9 m), each rod reads as a liquid line drawn in metal.

Artist Statement

This piece explores how far a straight line can bend without losing its clarity. The rod is forged, stretched and planished until a gentle spiral of swells and narrows travels from base to tip. The Mercury Effect skin converts the surroundings into animated texture—sky, trees and people flow along the crest like water around a reed. In groups, the rods behave like a choir: each voice slightly offset in pitch, the harmony emerging from their shared resonance.

1/1 Modern Exhibition

Present singly on a minimal plinth or in a cluster of 3–7 with varied heights for cadence. Keep 0.8–1.2 m clear radius so visitors can walk around and watch reflections climb the surface. Light with soft, grazing uplight or high side light to emphasize the vertical ripples; avoid multi-shadow downlights.
