Melting Column

A mirror-polished stainless-steel column rises from a rippling puddle of metal at its base. The surface reads like liquid held upright, folding the room into a vertical ribbon of light.

Artist Statement

Melting Column stages a paradox: solidity that behaves as flow. The upright shaft captures the world in restless, migrating facets, while the base spreads into a calm pool—as if the column has either emerged from, or is dissolving back into, liquid. The work treats reflection as material, letting light and movement write across the form.

1/1 Modern Exhibition

Install free-standing with ≥1 m clearance on all sides for a clean silhouette and safe circulation. Use high-CRI, even lighting at 3000–3500 K; one soft overhead and a low fill at ~45° animate the facets without glare. Keep nearby finishes matte/neutral to preserve legibility of reflections. Handle with gloves; clean with microfiber and a pH-neutral solution only.
