Obelisk

A 2.5-meter mirror-polished stainless-steel obelisk whose pointed form rises from a base of fluid distortions. The surface ripples animate the classical silhouette, turning the monument-like shape into a living column of shifting light.

Artist Statement

Obelisk reimagines a historically rigid form through the lens of reflective geometry. The sculpture stands 2500 mm tall, with a sharp pyramidal apex that anchors its architectural presence. Instead of classical smooth planes, the stainless-steel surface undulates across the height of the column, transforming the traditional obelisk outline into a field of moving reflections.

The rippled metal behaves like a vertical river. Light, shadows, and surrounding colors flow across its facets, breaking apart and reassembling as viewers walk around it. The result is a monolithic structure that appears both monumental and fluid—an object rooted in antiquity but animated by contemporary material expression.

From a distance, the silhouette is unmistakably that of an obelisk. Up close, the surface dissolves into abstract motion, merging sharp geometry with liquid distortion. This duality gives the piece its tension: enduring form and shifting presence, united in a single vertical stroke.

1/1 Installation & Placement

Ideal for lobbies, atriums, and spacious interiors where its height and reflective energy can be fully experienced. Provide at least 1 meter of clearance around the sculpture for 360° viewing. Soft, even lighting at 3000–4000 K allows the reflections to travel cleanly up the vertical plane.

1/2 Columns & Totemic Forms

At 2.5 m, Obelisk functions as a standalone monumental work. Its tapered summit draws the eye upward, making it an effective focal point within both contemporary and classical architectural settings.
