Pedestal I

A mirrored stainless-steel pedestal with a gently twisting vertical form. Its rippled surface transforms a functional support into a sculptural object that bends light into flowing reflections.

Artist Statement

Pedestal I turns an architectural element into a kinetic visual experience. Though conceived as a support structure, the work departs from traditional straight-line geometry. The mirrored stainless-steel body rises vertically but curves subtly along its axis, giving the piece a sense of poised movement.

Across the surface, wave-like distortions gather and disperse reflections of the room. Sharp highlights merge into soft gradients, and surrounding colors fragment into shifting patterns. The pedestal behaves like a flowing column—solid in form, liquid in appearance.

As a sculptural object, it performs in two roles simultaneously:
• as a functional pedestal capable of holding another artwork,
• and as an independent reflective piece that redefines its environment.

The gentle lean and the rippled texture make Pedestal I a transitional object—bridging furniture, architecture, and sculpture.

1/1 Placement & Display

Place free-standing with a minimum of 0.5 m around its perimeter for full visibility. Soft, even lighting at 3000–4000 K enhances the tension between the clean top surface and the fluid side panels. Works equally well as a stand-alone sculpture or as a base for smaller reflective artworks.

1/2 Functional Sculpture

Designed to interact with artworks placed on top, the pedestal creates an active dialogue between object and support. Its reflective sides fold the exhibited work into the pedestal, producing a unified sculptural composition.
