Runaway Tray

A hand-formed stainless steel tray shaped through the Mercury Effect technique, creating the illusion of liquified metal frozen mid-flow.

Artist Statement

Runaway Tray explores the moment when solidity pretends to melt. By extending beyond the edges of its supporting structure, the piece challenges the boundary between container and spill, between purposeful form and accidental movement. It behaves like a captured escape — metal trying to run, yet suspended in stillness. The work plays with perception, confronting the viewer with a familiar object rendered suddenly fluid.

1/1 Installation

The tray can be displayed on horizontal or stepped architectural surfaces, where its overflowing shape visually interacts with negative space. Indoor light enhances the mirrored distortions, while outdoor light intensifies the liquid illusion. The sculpture functions both as a standalone artwork and as a functional object, depending on the installation context.
