Artist Statement
Tabot is a vertical, free-standing sculpture in mirror-polished 316L stainless steel. The column’s relief fractures highlights into quicksilver facets, so the surroundings—trees, façades, passing people—are continuously re-written across its surface. From distance it reads as a pure, lucid line; at proximity the metal behaves like liquid light, pooling and surging as the viewer moves.
The work extends Rado Kirov’s exploration of the Mercury Effect, where sculpted steel acts like a fluid skin. The totemic format evokes ancient markers and obelisks, yet its optics are decisively contemporary—ambient, cinematic and site-responsive. Tabot is engineered for exterior or interior placement and can be fabricated to project specifications.
1/1 Modern Exhibition
Give the column breathing room; a clear perimeter of about two meters lets the reflections “breathe” and invites a slow walk-around. Soft, grazing light in a warm range reveals the relief, while tight hot-spot lighting is best avoided. Ideal viewing comes from a few meters out and by circling the piece. Anchoring is to slab or structural base per local code. Maintenance is minimal—wipe with microfiber and a pH-neutral solution; avoid abrasives and chlorides.
1/2 Renaissance Works
Obelisk-like profiles appear throughout European squares and cloisters. Tabot updates that memory in stainless steel—where reflection replaces inscription, and light becomes the text.
